PEACE RUN TO DARFUR

PEACE RUN TO DARFUR
For all the people I contacted earlier this year about a Peace Run to Darfur, and that saw my conclusion on the situation (Darfur needs: PROTECTION = GUNS) I wanted to first thank you for your support on the project, and tell you that the project is not over for you know we’re part of the “never give up tribe”. But remember, last year when we stopped in Houma Nation (New Orleans) on the Sacred Run. Volunteers were not the first thing they needed. In the opposite volunteers put more weight on their shoulders ‘cause they needed to be fed and sheltered and they couldn’t be put to work, because they had no tools to work with. Instead the people said: Send us some Home Depot gift cards- so they could get the stuff they needed to rebuild their communities with the help of the volunteers.
Well, if we had a peace run to Darfur right now it would be a suicide mission, not even a kamikaze one.
So what?
Are we gonna go there when everything is over?
I feel your frustration believe me. I do believe in democracy, but I do not believe our governments are democratic. If they are not democratic it’s because of us, the people, who are no longer standing up to and for our beliefs. Our answer is: We got bills to pay!
Are the landlords turning us back into slavery?
Or is it the college bills for our kids?
Or is it the Air Jordans at 150 $ a pair?
Or is it our cell phones and laptop and plasma TV screen all those great tools of communication?
To communicate about what?…
Or is it that new dream house on the hill?
What is it?
What is it that we need to give up or change in our lives and in our societies to be free again?
